We value good communication in our partnership with parents and guardians.

GCS Communication Channels

Please take a moment to learn about the communication channels used at GCS. It is imperative that parents and guardians maintain current contact information for all authorized parties. Contact information can be updated by logging into the family portal.

Email

Email is a primary form of communication at GCS. All GCS email will come from a gracechristiansanford.com email address. You can communicate directly with administration and teachers via email. GCS will also send administrative notifications and our weekly Monday Memo via email.

Text Messages

GCS uses text messaging to push time-sensitive information out to families. These are read-only messages. GCS does not accept incoming text messages. To contact the school in response to a text message, please call or email.

Family Portal & Mobile App

Each family member has a secure login to our family portal, where grades, homework, tuition payments, lunch orders and more are managed. Access the portal online or via our mobile app. Parents and guardians will be notified via email when report cards are posted or if there is another important item to review in the family portal.

Website & Social Media

You will find lots of resources and information about Grace Christian School on our website. GCS also uses our website and social media platforms to promote events and share news. Students receiving awards or reaching other accomplishments may be identified by name. If you do not wish for your student to be named and/or photoed on our online platforms, simply contact the school office to have the student added to our privacy list. GCS maintains profiles on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube.

Whitepaper

We try to minimize the amount of paper notices that go home with students. Occasionally a special event or opportunity flyer will be sent home. This information will always be communicated to families via other channels as well, including email and our weekly newsletter.

Communication Protocols

Our goal is to have clear and consistent communication with our families. We have established communication protocols to accomplish this successfully.

Teacher Communication

Teachers are required to communicate all student matters with parents and guardians using their GCS email. Please monitor your email for important communication from your student’s teacher. Teachers are not permitted to communicate student matters via text message.

You will be provided your student’s teacher’s email address at the beginning of the school year. Teachers may not be able to respond to email until after school hours. If you have an urgent matter, please call the school office.

School Closures & Delays

The administration will announce school closures, delays and emergency early dismissals via text message and email. In the unlikely event the school has to close early due to an emergency, we have aftercare services available if the student cannot be picked up by an authorized person.

Administration Notices

The GCS administration will communicate notices via email. These may include upcoming events/important dates, scholarship opportunities, surveys, a video message from our headmaster, or a new policy or procedure. For important notices, the administration may also send a text notification about the email.

Athletics Communications

Athletic tryout information can be found on our website and will also be communicated via email. If your student participates in GCS Athletics, you will be able to communicate with your student’s coach via email or text message. Specific guidelines for your student’s team will be communicated by the coach at the beginning of the season. To stay up to date on game calendars, you may subscribe to the team game schedule on our Athletic Website.

State of Grace Parent Meetings

GCS hosts an annual State of Grace meeting for families with our Head of School. The event format can vary from year to year, but the purpose is to reflect on and celebrate what has happened at Grace with a look ahead at what’s to come.
