Our goal is to help each student develop his or her identity in Christ as a unique individual, created in the image of God, with a plan and a purpose to impact this world for the Lord.
We’re here to provide the support your student needs to be successful. Parents and students may schedule one-on-one meetings with the school counselor at any time to discuss academics, college preparation, career tracks that include military and vocational career paths and any social or personal concerns. Our goal is to partner with your family to equip you with the support you need through meetings, written resources and suggested next steps to help your family pursue all the Lord has for you. High School students are typically invited in the Spring to meet with the school counselor for planning purposes, but are welcome to schedule an appointment at any time. Find out what to expect.
Our School Counseling team provides excellent character building and coping skills based on biblical principles to elementary students throughout the year. Topics include but are not limited to: respecting each other, trusting in God when we don’t understand, submitting to authority, honoring our parents/grandparents/guardians, conflict/resolution, time management, personal hygiene, choosing friends wisely and many more character building topics.
Middle and High School support includes biblically integrated classroom counseling as needed to assist with academic success skills, discovering career interests, discovering and applying God-given talents and gifts, and aiding in the development of social and emotional skills. The GCS School Counselors provide assistance and support to students individually or in small groups as needed.
The GCS School Counseling Team publishes the Crusader Compass newsletter each month and shares it with students and families via email and the Monday Memo. This valuable resource keeps students informed about upcoming opportunities and events, including college representative visits, GCS-sponsored information sessions, college fairs, scholarships, and enrichment programs available in the community and beyond.
The newsletter also includes a dedicated Senior Section with important reminders about college application deadlines, admissions timelines, the FAFSA, scholarship opportunities, and other essential steps to help seniors stay informed and organized throughout the college planning process.
Our School Counseling team provides expert college advising that helps students find post secondary options that best fit their academic, social, financial and spiritual needs. We recognize that the post-secondary education plan is different for each student, because God has created each person with different skills and passions to impact our communities.
Students and parents are encouraged to meet with the school counseling team once a year, starting in the student’s freshman year. These meetings can prove invaluable in building the student’s high school resume and preparing the student for their college or career path.
College and career resources are available upon request.
School counselors meet with each Senior student and their parents at least three times throughout the year to support the student’s post-secondary plans. These individualized meetings provide guidance on college and career exploration, applications, scholarships, graduation requirements, and other important milestones, ensuring that students and families have the information and support needed for a successful transition after graduation.
