MAP Growth Assessment at GCS

Achievement Tests have been a part of schooling in America for years. We all can remember reading the questions and filling in the ovals with our number 2 pencil. But what role do they play? Why do students take tests like this and what does the school do with the data that is gathered? Find out the what and why of MAP Growth Assessments administered by Grace Christian School.

CPR Certification taught to Life Skills Class

Over the last two weeks, High School students in Mrs. Bishop’s Life Skills class have been working towards their CPR Certification with our school nurse, Genevieve Paschal. Students have learned the basics needed to become certified and have useful skills that can translate to many aspects of life. Students learned cardiopulmonary resuscitation which is generally recommended for use on teens and adults who suddenly collapse. We hope to continue to offer these classes for students who want to become certified, stay tuned for future updates!

Forensic Science Visitor

Last week Detective Sgt. Greiger from the Lee County Sheriff’s Office visited the Forensic Science class and taught students how to lift prints from paper, plastic bottles, and other surfaces. He also spoke to the class about the chain of command, procedures followed when investigating a crime scene, and the pathways to becoming a criminal investigator.

Part of Our World Fine Arts Showcase Recap

On Thursday, April 28th over 120 students from our visual arts, ballet, and performing arts departments participated in our spring Fine Arts Showcase! We had the welcome center of the church full of artwork from all grade levels and enjoyed a production put on by our ballet students and performing arts students. We welcomed the addition of our CDC students to this production and the auditorium was full of parents, grandparents, and friends supporting their performers. After the performance the welcome center was full of students in character to take pictures, it was a delight to see faces light up with wonder and joy! We are looking forward to next year’s Fine Arts program continuing to expand. “
