Responsibilities & Duties
- Seek to role model in attitude, speech, and action a consistent daily walk with Jesus Christ
- Integrate Biblical principles and the Christian philosophy of education throughout the curriculum and activities
- Collaborate in developing a program of continuous progress consistent with Grace Christian School’s mission, goals and objectives to meet the needs, interests, and abilities of students
- Create a classroom environment that is safe, conducive to learning, and encourages students to take risks in their learning
- Communicate learning objectives with parents and students
- Teach general music classes to students in Kindergarten (KP) through 5th grade
- Lead students in developing skills in singing, rhythm, basic music theory, listening, and appreciation for various styles of music
- Plan and direct musical programs and performances, including chapel music
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and other specialists to integrate music into broader educational themes when possible
- Attend staff meetings, serve on staff committees as requested, and accept a share of responsibility for co-curricular or other activities as assigned by the Principal or Director of Academics
- Maintain a personal appearance that is a role model of cleanliness, modesty, good taste, and in agreement with school policy
- Willingly perform other related duties as required/assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education (preferred) or in a related area that will qualify for licensure as a teacher by the NC Department of Instruction or ACSI
- 2+ years of classroom experience preferred
- Knowledgeable of best practices, expected grade level development/content milestones
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
- Knowledge and implementation of relevant technology
- He/She shall be a person who exhibits and/or desires spiritual understanding in academic and leadership abilities that will allow him/her to “train up a child in the way he should go.”
